With a modern twist on classic sleep ensembles, the fashion world is welcoming the blurring of a once stark line between loungewear and outerwear. It is easy to see the inspiration behind this trend with designers creating sleep, and sleep inspired ensembles with attentive focus on structure, tailoring, and elegant sartorial choices that manage to incorporate ease and comfort.

Nowadays Chic, well-tailored sleepwear looks anything but lazy. It’s almost a shame to keep such beautifully enthused garments hidden behind closed doors. In saying that, the wearing of classically defined pyjamas, and pyjama separates as chic and well put together outer wear has become more of a given than not.

In more recent years, fashion has taken a turn into a lane which celebrates comfort and ease over pretty much anything else. This is an unexpected move from “beauty is pain” as the number on slogan of almost all trend setters and magazines.

Vogue, the leader of almost all fashion worshipers, is encouraging and celebrating this newly formed trend. “Boudoir- inspired separates (and their couch potato counterparts) are seemingly everywhere, from front rows to after-parties, elevated by statement shoes and the local scene’s exceptional modernist jewellery.”

This trend comes un-coincidentally along a similar timeline to that of the hugely celebrated sneaker movement, which was brought upon as a means to liberate women. While this is not the sole reason for the revelling in and encouragement of the sneaker trend, it is one of the more important and interesting inspirations to explore. When the cold starts, we hibernate.

With the official start of winter, we have started organising our weekend outfits. Our aesthetic; loose cut, button ups, strong tailoring. Our inspiration; anything that we can sleep and laze in while making our super dashing friend, Carrie Bradshaw, proud.

When the cold kicks in, as does the hibernation. Enjoying a good sleep in becomes a given, watching unlimited flicks becomes a must, leaving the house at midday (if that) becomes a constant.

Our hibernation doesn’t look like that of a caveman. Rather it oozes style and flair. Think Audrey Hepburn in Breakfast at Tiffany’s chic. Think Olivia Palermo at an Elle magazine shoot stylish.

If we’re honest, our hibernation outfit looks a little nicer than our usual weekend attire, which more often than not consists of exercise gear (there are no exercise activities achieved… unless easting counts?).

You don’t get much chicer than silks on a casual Sunday. Imagine waking up on a cold weekend morning snuggled in your classic silk ensemble featuring perfectly tailored loose cut pyjamas, and a smooth sleep eye mask. I mean, where do I sign up for such perfection?

Pretty florals are also proving to be a necessity during overwintering periods for one good reason; they remind us of natures beauty. Florals bring us closer to what we experienced during Summer weekends. Don’t get us wrong, we aren’t complaining… we love these florals just the same. We like to think outside of the box when designing our collections. We hear you and your likes and dislikes. We listen to you and your wants and desires.
